VMware vSphere: Design and Deploy Fast Track [V6]

I recently attended the VMware vSphere: Design and Deploy Fast Track course in London. VMware Fast Track courses are intensive courses that pack in more than a regular course and as result are fairly intense, the group I was in definitely would have appreciated a bit more time for the labs.

The course combined both designing a vSphere environment as well practical labs ranging from creating content libraries to working with vRealize Operations Manager. I have been preparing for VCAP5-DCD over the last few months so I found the design work quite familiar. We had some initial issues with the practical labs but this was more an issue with the training provider we were using rather than the labs themselves. Once the initial issues were resolved the practical labs were very enjoyable and fairly challenging.

I would recommend a decent level of vSphere knowledge before attending this course, it isn’t a beginner course by any stretch of the imagination. The group discussion around design choices were very thought provoking and the instructor for the course was Paul McSharry, the gentleman who wrote the VCAP5-DCD Official Guide, and he certainly had a lot of useful input.

I am in the process of redesigning our current vSphere 5.5 environment for vSphere 6 and the content of this course has been extremely useful.
